The Mouse and his Child

I bought this book because it was written by Russell Hoban.  Russell Hoban has written the Frances books and a few more children’s books.  I enjoy the Frances series as do my students, so I was excited to see a more “young adult” book by Russell Hoban. I was rather disappointed as the book is in my opinion rather dark, dank and despairing.

I was searching for some simple first reader chapter books, and I remember reading Olive when I was a child. I decided to see if there were more books in the series. To my delight, I found a few more! Honestly, I’m usually skeptical about this kind of book because they often are boring and have terrible grammar and sentence structure.

The No. 1 Car Spotter Series

I remember distinctly the first book that I read from this author. The book was in the Anna Hibiscus Series, which please read if you have not! I had just come back from a trip to Liberia, Africa. Freedom Over Me

There are a plethora of books on the sad subject of slavery. Some are remarkable. Others are just good. Some are outstanding. This an outstanding book! Now, the reason that I say its outstanding is because I have never seen a book that approaching the subject of slavery like this one does.

Sisters In Time Series

Honestly, this series excited me since it involved good role models for girls. I first read Betsy’s River Adventure and enjoyed it. I started looking into the series and realized that it was a nice big series. I was so excited!! When I started reading the series however, the books sorely disappointed me.
