               There are a plethora of books on the sad subject of slavery. Some are remarkable. Others are just good. Some are outstanding. This an outstanding book! Now, the reason that I say its outstanding is because I have never seen a book that approaching the subject of slavery like this one does. This book is based on an appraisal paper found that concerns the property and estate of Cado Fairchilds.

               This book highlights each person on that appraisal paper. On that appraisal paper, they are just casually mention by name, age and given a price. The author has taken that name and price. He uses his imagination to create a face and story for each person. He tells their stories. They are no longer just a name, an age and a price. They are real people. Mr. Bryan helps us remember and honor them. That is what makes this book outstanding!
