For those of you poor souls who have never tasted tamales, they kinda taste like a wetter cornbread with meat in the middle and wrapped in corn husks. Waiting

As usual, the illustrations in this book are absolutely marvelous! The colors are soft and the portrayal of the characters is detailed and gorgeous. The storyline is rather different from the other Kevin Henkes books that I’ve read.
