In the book "Dream Freedom," Sonia Levitin artfully portrays the struggle of slavery in Sudan. The story reads like poetry, evoking deep emotion as the reader is drawn into the pain of humans ripped away from their families and forced into slavery as animals. Readers are also exposed to the difference that can be made by children and simple people who work together for the freedom of slaves. "Dream Freedom" doesn't avoid the hard things. It is open, honest, and at times ugly. This is a high school level read that is well worth your time.
