Sir Lancelot the Great

Funny anecdotes and silly pictures help this book appeal to even the most reluctant of reluctant readers. This book highlights the legend of Sir Lancelot, a great knight for King Arthur’s famous roundtable. Sir Lancelot decided to take a break from the roundtable

Some Writer!

As a little girl, I was always fascinated by the lives of authors, especially the ones that wrote my favorite books. When I came across this biography of E.B. White, I was eager to read it. The book definitely delivered! I was entranced. Melissa Sweet writes in a narrative fashion that makes the character, E.B. White, come alive

No Dogs Allowed!

While "No Dogs Allowed!" is a decent story, I am not at all comfortable with the boy/girl relationships. They are made a very big deal and involve way too much touching.

The Borrowers Afield

This is the type of story children are good at writing and will love to read. I wonder what it would be like if I were only an inch or two tall. Imagine a trip through the field.

The No. 1 Car Spotter Series

I remember distinctly the first book that I read from this author. The book was in the Anna Hibiscus Series, which please read if you have not! I had just come back from a trip to Liberia, Africa. Reading this series definitely takes you back to Africa which out the pricey plan ticket! This book achieves Must-Read status just for its storytelling and cultural education.

Hannah

Born in years of one room schools and progressing America, Hannah loves to learn. But she is blind. Most people do not think that she can learn. They think that she will never amount to much.

Sisters In Time Series

Honestly, this series excited me since it involved good role models for girls. I first read Betsy’s River Adventure and enjoyed it. I started looking into the series and realized that it was a nice big series. I was so excited!! When I started reading the series however, the books sorely disappointed me.

The Beatinest Boy

Jesse Stuart believes in the power of stories to teach children. In this story, children will discover the joys of helping others, caring for nature, giving gifts, and loving family.

The Rightful Owner

How do you catch a traumatized hound dog? And after you catch him, how do you turn him into a friend? And then, if you discover his original owner, how do you honor that when your heart is breaking?

Old Ben

"Old Ben" is based on the author's own experiences of having a black snake for a pet when he was a boy. Go with Shan as he introduces Old Ben to his family and friends and ends up with a wonderful pet.

Ragweed

"Ragweed" is a well written, gripping story to read. It follows Ragweed as he leaves the country and moves into the city. Unfortunately, life in the city is lived in a club scene, complete with dyed hair, jewelry, dancing, a bar, and rock and roll music.

Amish Frontier Series

The goal of the Amish Frontier Series is to present to the reader the very real challenges faced by the Amish throughout history as they tried to remain faithful to their beliefs. In order to do that, the author follows a fictional family through many actual Amish settlements, having them move very, very often. Because of the frequent moves, the stories do not feel totally realistic. However, they do give a clear picture of the struggles faced by the Amish in each location.

Kavik the Wolf Dog

Have you ever been gripped so tightly by a story that you could barely move or even breathe until it ended? If not, do yourself a favor and read "Kavik the Wolf Dog." Walt Morey powerfully crafted this story of a sled dog who wrestles with his wolf roots through a plane crash,
