Manfish: A Story of Jacques Cousteau
Manfish: A Story of Jacques Cousteau
Author: Jennifer Berne
Illustrator: Eric Puybaret
Picture Book
An informative and kid-friendly biography of Jacques Cousteau. The story starts with Mr. Cousteau’s childhood and continues throughout his life. It focuses on his love of the ocean and the journey he and his friends took to inform the general public about ocean life. The story narrative is accompanied by exceptional artwork. The illustrations alone will captivate young audiences. My students enjoyed hearing this story, and they poured over the artwork. They enjoyed studying the details of fish and other ocean life. Wonderful book! Two quick notes, the book strongly encourages earth conservation, but it does not take the subject too far. Since it’s about the ocean and swimming, just note all the men have shirts on with the exception of one small boy on one page.
