Ever had this crazy big dream that you thought would never come true? Yes, we all have. This book is about a pig named Flora with a crazy big dream. Flora wants to be a sled dog or rather a sled pig.
So far, Flora has lived an incredibly boring life. Well, except for the one time when she got out of her pen. She was free. Completely free. She even ran with a team of sled dogs that were in training. Of course, she got caught and had to go back into the pen. Back to her boring life. Flora lives on a farm that raises and trains sled dogs for Antarctic and Arctic expeditions. On this farm, pigs can’t do anything but eat food and grow to gigantic proportions. Flora isn’t satisfied with a normal existence.
One day, men come into the pig pen to catch a pig. They run after the pigs until they catch Flora’s little brother Alfred. Alfred is Flora’s favorite brother. To protect Alfred and to find new adventure, Flora allows the men to catch her. Now Flora is embarking on an amazing new adventure.
I really could continue this overview of the book and ruin the book for everyone reading this review. I won’t. I hate to be a spoiler… The rest of the book is an fascinating reminder for each us to never give up on our crazy big dreams. I have read this book to everyone of my second grade classes after I found the book of course. They all have enjoyed the book. They learn to relate to Flora and never give up on their crazy big dreams. Whether your an adult or a child, read this book!
