This is the biography of Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latin-American woman, to be appointed to the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court. Ms. Sotomayor grew up in the projects in the Bronx. Her father died when she was young, so her mother had to work hard to offer her children a good education. Ms. Sotomayor worked hard as a young girl in school and then also in college. Her childhood dream was to become a judge. She didn’t let anything stand in her way of that dream. Throughout her life, she was able to help people better because of her background as a poor minority girl. Eventually, President Obama appointed her to Supreme Court.
