John Bunyan
Title: John Bunyan
Author: Simonetta Carr
Illustrator: Matt Abraxas
The life of John Bunyan, the famed preacher and author, is outlined in this book. John Bunyan’s early life is riddled with misbehavior, willfulness, bad language and drinking. At sixteen, he joins the Parliamentary army and narrowly escapes with his life. This experience sends him on a journey of seeking God. He meets his wife, who encourages and helps him on his journey toward God.
John continues to study the Bible and preach. Eventually, his preaching gets him in trouble with the local authority who throws John into prison. During his stay in prison, John writes a simple book, Pilgrim’s Progress. This book presents excellent information about John Bunyan and includes extensive information on the events leading up to his writing Pilgrim’s Progress and on the events that followed. It is an excellent resource to use alongside Pilgrim’s Progress, in fact, I used it as an introduction before we did a book study on Pilgrim’s Progress.
