An A from Miss Keller
An A from Miss Keller
Patricia Polacco
Picture Book
Patricia Polacco almost always makes me cry. Her books connect with the reader and make you feel every emotion in the book. This book is also autobiographical and part of her six-book trilogy that she wrote as a dedication to her teachers.
In this book, a young Patricia is put into an advanced writing class with Miss Keller. Miss Keller has a reputation for expecting excellence from her students and stops at nothing to pull that excellence from her students. In short, Miss Keller is tough. Patricia’s heart’s desire is to get an A from Miss Keller. But she keeps doing her best, but getting C’s. Her neighbor, Pop, keeps encouraging her and telling her that she can do it. Will Pop be able to help Patricia get her A?
Quick note: this book talks about death. Please be aware that it may be a trigger for some students.
