    Okay, picture a combination of Treasure Island and I, Robot and you might be getting close to The Wild Robot. This story features a robot, Roz. Roz was being transported to her new home when her cargo ship sank in a hurricane. However, Roz floated onto a remote island. Soon after landing, the otter turned Roz on. Will she survive on this island? Will she be able to make friends? 

I absolutely love this book! It’s so weirdly cool. It’s a great book that will encourage especially reluctant readers who are boys. Honestly, it’s just refreshing to read a fun, crazy book. Just be aware there is a bit of violence at the end of the book as three robots are sent to retrieve Roz. The animals protect Roz and destroy the robots, but Roz seeks resolutions and learns violence doesn’t solve problems. I can’t wait to read this book to my students for storytime!
