Set during a time of war, "Pax" will draw readers into the lives of Peter and his beloved pet. When things go wrong, Vola reaches far outside her comfort zone to aid the healing process. This is one of the best written children's books I have read. If you are a parent who loves discussing books with your child, this should be on your to-read list. However, due to exposure to alternate religions and much war, it is not recommended for a Christian library. Grade three and up
