In the early 1900’s a Mennonite Church in Lancaster County asked Amanda Musselman and her friend Mary Denlinger to move to the nearby city of Philadelphia. Philadelphia had parts of the city where the many people in need lived. The church wanted to find a way to help these people in need. Amanda and Mary moved to that section of the city. They worked hard to start a Sunday School. Soon they had a small church, a Sunday School and a sewing program for girls. They also helped at local hospitals and almshouses. This book is the inspiring story of Amanda Musselman and how she reached out to the poorest segment of the population in Philadelphia.
