Title: Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You

Author: Jason Reynolds & Ibram X. Kendi

Grade Level: 7&8th

I’ll just start this review with some honesty, I’m white and I needed to read this book. You do too! No matter what color your skin is… I thought that color didn’t matter and I was antiracist, but this book gave me a completely different perspective. As a conservative Anabaptist, I do acknowledge that this book should be read with open eyes, but that in no way should minimize the ‘meat’ of the book.

If you paid attention in history class, you most likely learned history from the perspective of white men. Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi present history from a different perspective. It’s fascinating, captivating, and convicting. They have made the information in this book so accessible to non-history lovers. Be aware, there is a small section in defense of the LBGTQ community.
