All Four Stars
Title: All Four Stars
Author: Tara Dairman
Grade Level: 5&6th
All Four Stars is just a scrumptious book! Gladys Gatsby loves cooking but accidentally set the kitchen on fire just as her parents were coming home. They of course had a bit of a conniption and forbade Gladys from cooking. Fortunately, her teacher assigned her class a pretty long essay, so she was not too bored. This essay was sent into The New York Standard to be judged. It was about what each student wants to be when they grew up. Gladys knows exactly what she want to be when she grows up, a restaurant critic!
Somehow, there is a mix-up with the essays, and Gladys receives an email from The New York Standard. In that email, they offer her a freelance restaurant critic job. Can Gladys become The New York Standard’s latest restaurant critic even though she is still in middle school?
I love this book so much! I’ll make sure that all the little girls in my life read it, and the little boys too. I so much appreciated how the author shaped the character into a little girl who was really sad about the cooking ban, but didn’t deliberately disobey her parents at every turn. Can’t wait for school to start again, so I can read this one for storytime!
