"A Single Page" is historical fiction based on the work of the Ephrata Cloister to print the "Martyrs Mirror." The characters are true to life with details added to bring the story to life. This book portrays not only life in this historical time period, but also the struggle of a young boy to love an unfriendly neighbor. It also explores what life in the Cloister was like and concludes with a list of astonishing facts about the publishing of the "Martyr Book." Colorful and attractive, this book appears to be a simple picture book but is written more in chapter book style. It may be accessible to some advanced first graders but is written more at a level for second grade and up.
