Written in 1968, children still enjoy hearing the story of Tikki Tikki Tembo. Two brothers, Chang and Tikki Tikki Tembo-no Sa Rembo-chari Bari Ruch-pip Peri Pembo, fall into the well. Because of his shorter name, Chang is rescued quickly, but Tikki Tikki Tembo spends months recovering due to his long name. My students love this story! It’s one they beg for again and again. They love reading Tikki Tikki’s name with me as we read it together.
