"Nim's Island" is a far-fetched, strangely written story. Children will perhaps enjoy the tale of a girl and her father who live alone on an island. The girl's friends are animals until her hero mystery writer comes to visit and ends up staying. There is nothing really wrong with the book, but it is far from a favorite.
