This book explores little life lessons that every child should learn. The story centers around a plate of cookies. It then teaches children how to share cookies. It walks them through how to apologize if you hurt someone. It helps them think through fairly sharing the very last cookie.
It’s hard to write a summary about the content of this book, so don’t let that fool you. This is a book every child should have in their libraries. It can be hard to teach some of the abstract concepts of being polite. This book is a great aid. It smoothly teaches child how to act in many situations. This book takes abstract concepts like fairness, sharing and winning and gives concrete examples of what they look like. This is important even in Second Grade. Since they still struggle with knowing what abstract concepts are.
I like to research the authors as I think their lives lend a lot to a book. I just learned that Amy Krouse Rosenthal recently passed away after heroically battling cancer.
